Faith and Deeds in Harmony

In Ephesians, Paul says, “For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— not by works, so that no one can boast.”  But in James we hear,, “You see that a person is justified by what he does and not by faith alone.”  So, which is it?  Are we saved by faith alone or faith plus works?  Have we stumbled upon a contradiction?  Actually, there’s no contradiction at all. In fact, these truths are in perfect harmony.
